Ubiquinol Kaneka™ 100mg - The most effective form of Coenzyme Q10

Ubiquinol (Kaneka Ubiquinol™) 100mg by EssentialSeries is a food supplement in vegetable softgels based on ubiquinol, the 'reduced form of coenzyme Q10' with raw material: Kaneka Ubiquinol™.

Ubiquinol is an electron-rich (reduced) form of coenzyme Q (ubiquinone). Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is found in three redox states: fully oxidised (ubiquinone), partially reduced (semiquinone or ubisemiquinone), and fully reduced (ubiquinol).

The redox functions of ubiquinol are based on the ability to exchange two electrons in a redox cycle between the ubiquinol (reduced) and ubiquinone (oxidised) form, which is why ubiquinol is considered the best active form of coenzyme Q10.

Ubiquinol vs Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone) - What is the difference?

As mentioned above, Ubiquinol is the reduced form of coenzyme Q10, commonly referred to as the oxidised form of Ubiquinone.

Many people use Coenzyme Q10 but are unaware that Ubiquinol is also Coenzyme Q10, just in a reduced version that is considered preferable.

The disadvantage of traditional coenzyme Q10 is that once ingested, our body needs to transform it before it can be used: It converts it into ubiquinol.

The ability to turn Ubiquinone (traditional Coenzyme Q10) into Ubiquinol decreases over time and during ageing. Any coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) that is not converted is not active.

For this reason, direct consumption of Ubiquinol is most desirable, as it is the only form of fat-soluble antioxidant naturally present in our bodies.

According to Kaneka's data, Ubiquinol is 2 to 4 times better absorbed than ubiquinone.

Reduced form of Ubiquinol - The most effective form of CoQ10

Based on the electron composition of Ubiquinol versus Ubiquinone, it is considered the most effective and bioavailable form of Coenzyme Q10, as it is the active form.

According to scientific research such as that of Niklowitz et al. ‌(2016), young, healthy people can easily convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol, but after the age of 40, this process becomes less efficient.

Dietary supplementation in adults with Ubiquinol is therefore recommended as a key strategy to tackle a biological problem associated with the loss of efficacy that comes with ageing.

HSN - Committed to top-quality development: Focus and competence

At HSN, we haven't decided to use Kaneka just because of its reputation, not at all.

We have researched the raw materials, as with all our products, and it turns out that Kaneka is the world's first and only ubiquinol available as a nutritional compound.

Our food supplements are developed with only the best raw materials, i.e. those that meet the quality criteria established to be an international benchmark.

We have used the most proven dose of Ubiquinol by concentrating it in a single softgel and using an unsaturated fatty carrier of vegetable origin to optimise its absorption: 100mg.

The ideal dose for continuous daily use as maintenance.

In addition, we have developed our softgels without gelatine. We use a vegetable glazing agent to make our Kaneka ubiquinol 100% suitable for vegan diets.

Kaneka - Pioneer in the development of Coenzyme Q10: Discover its history

Since 1977Kaneka has commercially manufactured the only all-natural CoQ10 fermented with yeast, making the product bioidentical to CoQ10 produced naturally in the body.

Backed by more than three decades of manufacturing, safety, and clinical studies, Kaneka Q10® is the industry standard. It is the leading brand of CoQ10 used in FDA-approved clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health and has been used in the vast majority of all other clinical trials for the past 30 years.

Backed by more than 10 years of research, development, and testing, this new product, Kaneka Ubiquinol, is the only Ubiquinol available as a food supplement today. It is manufactured exclusively by Kaneka. Kaneka doesn't sell its products directly to consumers, so you have to purchase them through authorised manufacturers that meet the quality criteria set by the company, such as HSN.

In 2007, Kaneka Corporation launched its next-generation Coenzyme Q10 product, Kaneka Ubiquinol™. As Kaneka is dedicated to producing the highest quality nutritional ingredients possible, the company spent more than a decade researching and testing this innovative nutritional ingredient before bringing it to market. This ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and reliability is evident in each of Kaneka's distinctive products.

  •  Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is the world's first and only ubiquinol available as a nutritional ingredient.
  •  Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is derived from Kaneka Q10, the only all-natural bioidentical, yeast-fermented CoQ10 available today.
  •  Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is more absorbable than conventional CoQ10, especially in those over 40 or affected by certain age-related conditions.
  •  Kaneka Ubiquinol™ has been tested for over a decade by scientists and researchers.

Don't trust, just verify. Look for the Kaneka quality seal, like the one you can find on HSN labelling:

Kaneka launched the Quality Seal to help consumers understand what is in the supplements they consume.

Buying products with the Kaneka Seal of Quality means that the product is made with high-quality Ubiquinol, the active form of CoQ10.

The Kaneka Seal of Quality is backed by more than 30 years of history in the CoQ10 market. It also has state-of-the-art production facilities near Houston, Texas, and in Takasago, Japan. In this state-of-the-art facility, nutritional ingredients are produced under a strict quality assurance program based on the principles of 'Kaizen', the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement and implementation of current FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.

Foods rich in Ubiquinol and Ubiquinone. What are they and how much do they contribute?

You can find varying amounts of ubiquinol in different types of food. However, its content is quite low, so the use of a ubiquinol food supplement is often recommended as an ideal way to supplement:

Oily fish provide a good amount of Coenzyme Q10, especially salmon, tuna, and sardines. Beef, chicken, and pork also provide ubiquinol, especially if they have been fed on quality grass; more specifically, the viscera are rich in this compound, particularly the heart.

However, the content of these ubiquinol-rich products, such as beef liver, is only 4mg per 100g. This means that to obtain the 100mg of ubiquinol provided by a convenient HSN softgel, more than 2.5kg of beef liver is needed, which is not only impractical but also unfeasible daily.

Why use Ubiquinol together with Red Yeast Rice? Other interesting combinations

Red yeast rice contains naturally occurring compounds called monacolins, of which monacolin K is the most important.

Monacolin K is responsible for the physiological effects of red yeast rice. Nonetheless, according to clinical studies, its properties act on the mevalonate pathway, which adversely affects the ability to produce coenzyme Q10.

Young people taking food supplements of Red yeast rice with Coenzyme Q10, such as the HSN - EssentialSeries product, have sufficient support.

However, older people who use this compound may require additional supply, due to difficulties in converting from the oxidised to the reduced form, preferring the use of ubiquinol over the ubiquinone form.

Is Ubiquinol a vitamin? Why is it ideal to combine it with a multivitamin?

Ubiquinol meets all the conditions to be considered a vitamin, except for one, which is that it is not nutritionally essential as our body can synthesise ubiquinol.

This is why it is considered a pseudo-vitamin.

The use of Coenzyme Q10 together with multivitamins is recommended because they complement each other perfectly Our Evovits Plus+ is an excellent broad-spectrum option with Coenzyme Q10 in its composition.

Support your multivitamin with 100mg of Ubiquinol!

When is it best to use Ubiquinol?

Ubiquinol is a compound that can be used at any time of the day. It is usually recommended for use, especially in the morning, but as long as you do not experience problems with rest (which you should not, as Ubiquinol does not have any stimulant properties), you can use the product in the afternoon or evening without any problems.

What other presentations of Coenzyme Q10 does HSN have available?

At HSN, you have other coenzyme Q10 products available in the form of Ubiquinone, and Bioperine®, a patented black pepper extract standardised to a high piperine content, ideal for boosting the absorption of CoQ10.
